Description:

I've partnered an award winning consulting organisation, looking for an experienced Embedded Linux Software Engineer, based in or around North West London.

What to expect

* Work within our highly technically diverse multidisciplinary teams (application software, embedded, computer vision, cloud platform, etc.)
* Support the development and productization of our custom computing devices, medical devices, and other devices for the hospital operating rooms.
* Drive collaboration with our hardware team to build and maintain compatible kernels/drivers for our hardware platforms.
* Architect, develop, test, and debug system services and hardware-dependent software applications.
* Coordinate and conduct code reviews for embedded software.
* Contribute to the software infrastructure to ensure seamless software deployments.
* Participate in the relevant security and regulatory compliance processes.
* Develop robust and secure-by-design software fit for a medical-grade system.
* Perform formal risk analysis activities, develop software mitigations, run verification. tests and participate in design transfer to manufacturing activities.

Must Haves

* BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
* Extensive experience working with Linux device drivers (V4L2/I2C/SPI/UART etc), tinkering with the Linux kernel and device trees.
* Extensive experience with varied Linux system components such as kernels, services, log management, rules, etc.
* Excellent networking knowledge
* Expert C/C++ and shell scripting knowledge.
* Experience working with custom Linux build systems (Yocto/Buildroot etc)
* Experience in system bring-up and hardware integration.
* Experience with over-the-air update mechanisms for embeddedsystems.
* Strong knowledge of security concepts (e.g. hardware root of trust, cryptographic key generation and usage)
* Fundamental knowledge of Linux diagnostic/benchmarking tools
* Basic Electronics knowledge - comfortable following a schematic and technical documentation/datasheet.
* Experience with software systems engineering and design principles.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Flexible - you can independently solve problems as they arise but are comfortable asking for help when you need it.
* Comfortable with complexity - being able to think through consequences of changes in a highly interconnected ecosystem over varied use environments.

Nice to Haves

* Experience working with deployed hardware systems and remote device management.
* Good Python programming skills
* Nvidia computing platforms experience.
* Microcontroller development experience.
* Experience with AWS
* Experience with automated testing

What will be involved in the role:

* Identifying data quality risks early through stakeholder engagement and domain understanding
* Performing hands‑on data profiling, discovery and quality checks at source
* Analysing root causes of data issues and driving corrective actions
* Supporting data migration by validating mappings, transformations and scripts
* Running reconciliation and post‑migration quality checks
* Raising, tracking and resolving defects during trial loads and cutovers
* Translating business needs into clear, measurable data quality requirements
* Working with engineers to implement quality rules, constraints and monitoring
* Designing and maintaining data quality KPIs, dashboards and alerts
* Supporting governance practices, standards and continuous improvement

Overview

We are working with a leading consultancy delivering a major data transformation programme for a financial services client. They are seeking an experienced AWS Enterprise Data Architect to lead architectural design and provide strategic guidance across enterprise-scale data initiatives.

This role will suit someone comfortable operating in a client-facing consulting environment, shaping strategy while remaining close to delivery.

The position is largely remote, however candidates must be willing to travel to London for key stakeholder engagements.

Role Responsibilities

* Lead the definition and delivery of enterprise data architecture for a large-scale FS transformation programme
* Design and implement modern data platforms on AWS, aligned to client requirements
* Engage directly with senior client stakeholders, translating business needs into scalable data solutions
* Provide architectural leadership across data engineering, governance, and platform teams
* Define best practices for data modelling, ingestion, integration, and consumption
* Ensure solutions meet regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to financial services
* Support the consultancy in shaping data strategy, roadmaps, and target architectures

The Role

You'll be responsible for designing and delivering robust data mapping solutions, helping to bridge gaps between legacy and target systems as part of a wider transformation. What You'll Be Doing

* Examine and interpret source and target data models to define clear mapping requirements
