Job description

A well-established software consultancy is expanding its Business Intelligence offering and is looking for a Junior Power BI Consultant to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Power BI enthusiast who's eager to grow into a fully-fledged, customer-facing Consultant role.

You'll be home-based, with some travel to Solihull - initially this will be as much as 2-4 times a month, likely reducing over time. As such, this role is open to candidates across most of the UK.

What You'll Be Doing

Initially, you'll join the Support team as the internal Power BI specialist, sharing your knowledge and building your expertise. Over time, you'll transition into a Consultant role, working alongside sales, pre-sales, and consulting teams to deliver impactful BI solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

* Collaborating with internal teams to scope and deliver Power BI solutions.
* Leading discovery sessions and supporting pre-sales activities, including demos and presentations.
* Designing, developing, and implementing bespoke Power BI dashboards and reports.
* Providing training and support to end users.

You'll be supported every step of the way, with a clear path to becoming a fully-fledged Consultant within approximately 18 months. At that point, you can expect a significant uplift in your package - including a higher base salary, car allowance, and performance bonus.

What We're Looking For

* Proven experience designing and developing Power BI reports using Power Query and DAX.
* Strong analytical and requirements-gathering skills.
* A genuine interest in pre-sales and solution architecture.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The Offer

* Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience.
* Paid travel and parking when attending company meetings.
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with service).

What You'll Be Doing

* Delivering full lifecycle data solutions: acquisition, engineering, modelling, analysis, and visualisation
* Leading client workshops and translating business needs into technical solutions
* Designing and implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure tools (Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory)
* Building data lakes with medallion architecture
* Migrating legacy on-prem data systems to the cloud
* Creating impactful dashboards and reports using Power BI

Requirements:

* Proven experience in Data Engineering or Data Warehouse Development
* Strong hands-on skills with Azure data tools and SQL/Python
* Knowledge of medallion lakehouse design and large-scale data integration
* Experience with Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and data modelling
* Ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, and notebooks
* Exposure to MDX/DAX and BI concepts
* A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
