Senior engineering manager - Hybrid role in Data & Digital Platforms - £110k

A large, globally distributed organisation is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple data and digital engineering teams responsible for delivering critical platforms and products across the business.

This is a senior leadership position, centred around delivery outcomes, operational excellence and people leadership, rather than hands-on development. You will define and uphold engineering standards, enable consistent and predictable delivery, develop and mature engineering capability, and lead both internal and vendor teams across a modern Microsoft and cloud technology environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead globally distributed engineering teams across data platforms and low-code tools.
* Create delivery rhythms, sprint discipline and engineering standards.
* Develop leads by coaching, feedback and capability uplift.

Senior Data Engineering Manager - Azure - Databricks - London - Up to £120k

My client are well recognised as being leaders within their relative field. With operations spanning across a range of continents, they have a footprint in nearly every major city globally. They were first established over half a century ago but they are part of a much bigger group which has been around for even longer, providing stability and financial backing which allows the business to continue to use cutting edge technologies.

Whilst this role requires someone who comes from a Data Engineering background, this is a hands off role where you will be a people manager. You will be managing the core Data team but also looking after 2 other streams of work within PowerApps and Sharepoint. You will be required to provide mentorship as well as helping to drive the data strategy within the organisation.

This role is paying up to £120k as a base salary. You will get up to 10% bonus (Discretionary) as well as a range of other great benefits. My client value work life balance more than anything as they strongly believe that a happy work force brings out the best productivity. They also have such a tight knit team which they want to maintain and they've achieved this through a hybrid working policy where all members of the team are required to be in office 3 days a week.

3+ years' experience operating in a Senior Data Architect capacity

Strong expertise in data architecture, data modelling and information management
*

Experience designing modern data platforms supporting analytics, reporting and machine learning workloads

Knowledge of data governance, lineage, metadata management and data quality frameworks
*

Experience defining technical standards, patterns and architectural principles
*

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
*

The ability to provide architectural leadership from day one

Industry Experience

Financial services experience is highly desirable, although candidates from other regulated industries such as insurance, pensions, utilities or healthcare will also be considered.
