About the Role

We are seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design, develop and deliver advanced AI and Generative AI solutions within a large, complex enterprise environment. This role sits at the centre of the AI‑driven technology function, shaping engineering strategy, building scalable AI applications and integrating LLM‑powered capabilities into systems used by thousands of colleagues every day.

This position is perfect for an engineer who combines deep hands‑on technical expertise with leadership capability. You will guide the development of GenAI applications and ensure AI solutions are secure, scalable and production‑ready.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, platform engineers and senior stakeholders to influence technical direction, support strategic decision‑making and ensure the consistent delivery of high‑quality, high‑impact AI solutions.

Responsibilities

* Lead the design and delivery of AI, ML and Generative AI applications across major digital transformation initiatives.
* Translate business and technical objectives into engineering roadmaps and implementation strategies.
* Develop scalable AI systems using Python, LLMs and cloud‑native services
* Evaluate and optimise Large Language Models, prompts and model performance.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of AI capabilities into existing platforms.

Skills and Experience

* Proven experience developing AI, ML or Generative AI applications within complex environments.
* Strong expertise in Python, LLMs, prompt engineering and model evaluation.
* Experience with AWS cloud services - particularly Bedrock, Lambda, S3, Lex and CloudWatch.
* Hands‑on experience working with deep learning frameworks or LLM‑related toolkits.
