About the Opportunity

A large and respected organisation is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to lead the evolution of its data engineering capability and help deliver a modern, data-driven future. This is a senior technical leadership position offering the opportunity to shape enterprise-wide data strategy, architecture, platforms, and standards.

Working within a highly collaborative technology team, you will drive the design, implementation and optimisation of scalable data platforms and pipelines that enable informed decision-making across the organisation.

The Role:

* Lead the strategic direction of the organisation's data engineering function.
* Design and deliver enterprise-scale data platforms, pipelines, and integration solutions.
* Champion best practices across data architecture, governance, security and quality.
* Drive the adoption and optimisation of cloud-based data technologies.
* Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data capabilities.

Required Experience:

* Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions.
* Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services and cloud-based data platforms.
* Advanced SQL and data modelling skills.
* Experience with metadata management and data integration approaches.
* Strong problem-solving ability with experience resolving complex technical challenges.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the organisation's data engineering capability, driving the adoption of modern cloud technologies including Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services.



Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop and maintain enterprise-scale data platforms, pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services
* Lead the architecture and implementation of modern cloud-based data engineering solutions
* Define data engineering standards, best practices and governance across the organisation
* Develop scalable data models and integration solutions to support business intelligence and analytics
* Ensure data platforms are secure, resilient and aligned with compliance and governance requirements



Skills & Experience

* Commercial experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions
* Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services and cloud-based data platforms
* Advanced SQL skills with experience in data modelling, ETL/ELT development and data integration
* Experience designing scalable, secure and high-performing data architectures
