Business Central Accounting SME - Chicago / Remote - $125k

About the Role

Do you speak fluent accounting and ERP? Can you explain journal entries without putting your audience to sleep? We're looking for a Business Central Accounting/Finance SME who can train users, streamline processes, and keep our financial systems running smoother than a reconciled bank statement.

This hybrid role is perfect for someone who's a former Accountant turned ERP whisperer, and part process improvement enthusiast. Occasional travel is required-yes, we'll cover the snacks.

What You'll Be Doing

ERP Training & Support

* Design and deliver training that's informative, engaging, and maybe even fun.
* Create user-friendly SOPs and quick guides (no 50-page manuals, we promise).
* Provide support before, during, and after ERP go-lives-cape optional.

Accounting & Financial Systems

* Be the go-to expert for GL, AR/AP, bank recs, fixed assets, and more.
* Ensure processes align with GAAP and internal controls.
* Support month-end close, audits, and reporting directly in Business Central.

Process Development & Optimization

* Analyze workflows and recommend ERP-based improvements.
* Automate repetitive tasks so humans can focus on the smart stuff.
* Translate business needs into ERP configurations that actually work.

ERP Go-Live & Implementation

* Participate in all phases of ERP projects.
* Lead training and support during go-lives (and keep the panic to a minimum).
* Document lessons learned and share your wisdom.

Collaboration & Communication

* Work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and IT.
* Be the translator between "accounting speak" and "tech talk."

What You Bring

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
* 5+ years of accounting experience.
* 3+ years working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or NAV).
* Proven experience with ERP go-lives and end-user training.
* Strong communication, training, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in Excel; Power BI, Power Automate, or SQL is a plus.

Bonus Points For

* CPA or progress toward CPA.
* Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant Associate.
* Train-the-Trainer or instructional design certification.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel for go-lives, training, and occasional in-person support.
