Senior Backend Developer - Oslo (Norwegian Speaking Required)

We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to take ownership of a core, data-driven matching platform that plays a key role in a widely used digital service across Norway.

This is a high-impact position within a small, in-house engineering team, where you'll have real influence over architecture, performance, and scalability. You'll work across the full backend ecosystem, helping to evolve a platform that is used daily and requires reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

The Role

As a Senior Backend Developer, you'll take a leading role in developing and maintaining a high-performance matching engine, working across backend services, infrastructure, and data pipelines.

You'll be involved end-to-end, from design and architecture decisions through to implementation and optimisation, with a strong focus on scalability, stability, and performance.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and solving complex data-driven challenges.

Key Responsibilities

* Take ownership of a core backend platform and its ongoing development
* Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services
* Work with event-driven architecture to handle high-volume data flows
* Optimise system performance, reliability, and maintainability
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and improve platform capabilities
* Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making
* Improve data processing, search capabilities, and matching logic
* Ensure best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment

Tech Environment

* .NET/Python/Node.js/TypeScript
* PostgreSQL
* RabbitMQ (or similar messaging/queueing systems)
* Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
* Event-driven and distributed systems

What They're Looking For

* Strong experience as a Senior Backend Developer or similar role
* Solid background in building scalable, data-driven systems
* Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems
* Strong understanding of databases, search technologies, and performance optimisation
* Comfortable working across multiple backend technologies
* A proactive, ownership-driven mindset
* Strong communication skills and ability to work in a small, collaborative team
* Fluent Norwegian (required)
