Data Analyst

A strong Data Analyst is required to support a major data‑transformation workstream within a clinical screening and diagnostics environment. You will work within a specialist team focused on modernising complex end‑to‑end processes using data‑driven capabilities.

Medical sector experience preferred.

The role involves analysing datasets originating from multiple legacy systems, identifying and resolving data‑quality issues, and helping shape future data structures, definitions and standards.

Core Focus of the Role

* Define and validate the meaning, structure and shape of target datasets.
* Quantify and categorise data‑quality issues across multiple system instances.
* Translate data anomalies into clear, approved business rules in partnership with stakeholders.

Essential Skills

* Ability to assess completeness, validity, consistency and uniqueness, and interpret what those issues mean operationally or clinically.
* Contribute to defining entities, relationships and minimum‑viable datasets aligned to a target schema.
* Map legacy data fields to target data‑dictionary definitions, identify ambiguous usage and propose standard terminology.
* Analyse duplicates, conflicts and missing values, proposing options and documenting trade‑offs.
* Work closely with SMEs and operational teams to define handling of anomalies and confirm business meaning.
* Produce clear, decision‑ready analytical outputs (issue summaries, dashboards, reconciliation logs, sign‑off packs). Experience with tools such as Power BI for visualisation.
* Create clear analytical notes documenting methods, assumptions, rules and limitations for auditability and reproducibility.
* Strong SQL skills for analysis, validation and verifying data‑engineering transformations.
* Proven experience with geospatial data (vector, raster, GeoJSON, shapefiles), coordinate reference systems, spatial workflows and producing geographical insights.
* Ability to translate local/regional spatial insights into national‑ or regional‑level analytical outputs.
* Experience working with publicly available official datasets (e.g., census boundaries, geographic lookups, deprivation indices, population estimates).

Soft Skills

Success in this role requires the right behaviours as much as the right technical skillset:

* Strong communication and collaboration capability.
* Comfortable working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
* Enthusiastic, proactive and highly engaged.
* Able to work independently without needing step‑by‑step direction.
* Resilient in the face of ambiguity and organisational change.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

* Knowledge of clinical screening pathways, operational reporting or KPI definitions (uptake, timeliness, outcomes).
* Familiarity with data‑governance processes, data dictionaries and controlled vocabularies.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance due to the sensitive nature of the datasets involved.
