GCP Data Solutions Architect - London/Hybrid

NFI15092025066LDN_1757930622

Data Solutions Architect (GCP)

Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Permanent

A leading global data and artificial intelligence organisation is seeking a Data Solutions Architect (GCP) to join its Data Management practice. This is a senior, client-facing role that combines technical leadership with strategic consulting, offering the opportunity to shape large-scale cloud transformation programmes and influence decisions at the highest levels.

The Role

The Data Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in designing and guiding the delivery of complex data architectures, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The position requires a balance of deep technical knowledge and strong communication skills, with around 40-50% of the role spent on pre-sales activities such as shaping proposals, responding to RFPs, and influencing client strategies.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, design future-state data platforms, lead solution strategies, and inspire delivery teams. This is not a hands-on development role but rather one of strategic design, technical direction, and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

*

Shape and articulate solutions during pre-sales activities, including responses to RFPs and RFIs.
*

Architect and oversee enterprise-scale data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses) on GCP.
*

Define cloud migration and modernisation strategies using GCP, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools.
*

Lead enterprise data modelling efforts using tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, or PowerDesigner.
*

Design ETL/ELT frameworks and pipelines using Cloud Composer, Dataproc, Dataflow, Informatica, or IBM DataStage.
*

Implement data governance and quality frameworks across large enterprises.
*

Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership including CDOs, CIOs, and Heads of Data.
*

Lead and mentor global teams of architects, engineers, and data scientists.
*

Produce architectural artefacts, blueprints, and technical documentation.
*

Stay ahead of emerging trends in data mesh, data products, generative AI, and open data ecosystems.

Requirements

*

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
*

Strong years of experience in BI/Data Warehousing and analytics.
*

Strong experience in technical or solution architecture roles.
*

Strong background in the banking sector; insurance knowledge is a significant advantage.
*

3+ years' experience in enterprise data modelling.
*

Knowledge of modern BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
*

Hands-on cloud and DevOps experience (GCP/Azure/AWS, Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitHub).
*

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and engage with business and technology stakeholders.
*

Professional cloud certifications are highly desirable.

What's on Offer

*

Competitive salary and bonus scheme.
*

Private healthcare, life assurance, critical illness, and income protection.
*

Generous pension contributions.
*

Everyday financial benefits including cashback and retailer discounts.
*

Cycle-to-work scheme.
*

Extensive learning and development opportunities, including certifications, training, and workshops.
*

Flexible hybrid working to support work-life balance.
*

A diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
