Data Engineering Lead

A leading professional services organisation is seeking a highly capable and inspirational Data Engineering Lead to provide both hands-on technical expertise and strategic leadership.

Reporting to the Director of Data & Innovation, the successful candidate will guide a small team of technical specialists to deliver high-quality solutions across data engineering, automation, and systems development. This role will be central in shaping the organisation's data and systems landscape, ensuring that technical direction is aligned with strategic priorities and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of three specialists, providing technical direction and ensuring high-quality delivery.
*

Define and maintain an effective internal data and systems architecture, enabling scalability and integration.
*

Drive the design and delivery of complex engineering and automation solutions.
*

Contribute through hands-on development where required, while setting standards and best practices.
*

Collaborate with IT Operations, stakeholders, and the wider Data & Innovation team to deliver impactful solutions.
*

Act as a role model, inspiring confidence, capability, and growth within the team.

Skills and Experience

*

Strong experience in data engineering and systems development, particularly with Databricks, Microsoft Azure, Power Platform, and M365.
*

Strong technical expertise in data integration, automation, and system design.
*

Proven track record in leading and mentoring technical teams within agile environments.
*

Ability to balance hands-on technical execution with strategic planning and leadership.
*

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage a range of stakeholders.
