Head of Engineering - Remote - UK - £80,000-£150,000 GenAI, ML, Spark

You'll Work With

* Cross‑functional teams spanning:

* Web Engineering (React / TypeScript)
* Data Engineering (distributed systems, Spark‑based platforms)
* Data Science & Machine Learning

* A highly technical CTO who is deeply invested in AI adoption and modern engineering
* Product leadership following significant recent evolution and change
* A remote, growing engineering organisation with a collaborative, informal working style



What You'll Be Doing

* Leading and overseeing Web, Data and Data Science teams (around 30 people total)
* Managing 5-6 direct reports, with a strong focus on soft‑skills leadership
* Providing clarity, structure and knowledge flow across teams as the organisation scales
* Owning engineering execution while partnering closely with Product and the CTO
* Ensuring AI‑assisted development practices are effective, scalable and sustainable
* Building a strong, connected remote culture that supports collaboration and momentum

This is not a hands‑on coding role, but genuine enthusiasm for technology, AI and modern engineering practices is essential.

Key Experience Required

You must have experience working across all three areas below (depth can vary, exposure is essential):

* A Web Engineering team
* A Data Engineering team using distributed technologies (e.g. Spark)
* A Data Science team working with Machine Learning

In addition, you'll bring:

* Experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering organisations
* Strong people leadership and soft‑skills capability
* Confidence managing remote teams and building connection at scale
* Comfort operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
* A genuine interest in AI, modern engineering tools and new ways of working
