We are partnering with an ambitious, fast‑growing startup in Stavanger that is building a modern, high‑impact product with strong technical foundations. To support their next scale‑up phase, they are now looking for a strategic and hands‑on VP Engineering to lead engineering, shape the technical direction, and contribute directly to backend development.

About the Role

As VP Engineering, you will take ownership of the engineering organisation and technical strategy, while remaining close enough to the codebase to guide architectural decisions and ensure high‑quality delivery. This is a central leadership role in a product‑driven startup, offering significant influence on both culture and technology.

You will:

* Lead and grow the engineering team, ensuring strong collaboration and high performance
* Set and execute the long‑term technical strategy, roadmap, and architecture
* Work hands‑on with backend technologies (.NET, Azure, SQL) when needed
* Drive modern engineering practices including CI/CD, cloud architecture, security and scalability
* Collaborate closely with product and founders to deliver a reliable, user‑centric platform
* Build a culture of ownership, quality, transparency, and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

* Senior leadership experience-Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, CTO, or similar
* Strong technical background with C#/.NET, cloud platforms (Azure), and relational databases (SQL)
* Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical, hands‑on engineering
* Experience in startup or scale‑up environments is highly valuable
* Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate, influence, and guide teams
* Fluency in Norwegian
