Core Requirements
Fabric & Data Engineering
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric - OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory / Data Pipelines, Synapse Data Engineering
* Solid Python, PySpark, and SQL
* Good understanding of data modelling - star schema, medallion architecture, ideally Data Vault
* Experience with modern ELT/ETL approaches
BI & Reporting
* Strong Power BI skills - semantic (tabular) modelling, advanced DAX, Power Query (M)
* Report and dashboard design, including workspace and deployment management
Engineering Practice
* Comfortable working with version control and CI/CD for data workloads (Azure DevOps or GitHub)
* Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy - including GDPR - as core parts of the build, not an afterthought
Consulting & Client-Facing Skills
* Confidence presenting to and facilitating discussions with non-technical stakeholders
* A consultative mindset - listening, connecting technology to business needs, and making clear, defensible recommendations
* Ability to run workshops, gather and challenge requirements, and act as a trusted advisor
Language & Ways of Working
* Fluent Finnish and working proficiency in English (client work is often conducted in Finnish)
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of a deliverable through to a production-ready result
Nice to Have
* Broader Azure ecosystem experience (Databricks, Synapse, Azure SQL)
* dbt or a modular ELT mindset
* Real-Time Intelligence, KQL, or streaming/event-driven data experience
* Data governance tooling experience (e.g. Purview)
* Integration experience with Power Platform, D365 Business Central, or SAP
* Comfort with Copilot / AI-assisted development tools
Certifications
DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer Associate) is the primary target - completed or clear motivation to pursue it. DP-600 and PL-300 are also valued.
