About the Engagement

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Fabric Architect to join us on a freelance basis to lead the design and delivery of our enterprise data platform. This is a hands-on contract role, ideal for an independent consultant who can hit the ground running and take ownership of critical architecture decisions from day one.

You will be embedded within our Data & Analytics team, working alongside internal engineers, BI developers, and senior stakeholders to deliver a robust and scalable Microsoft Fabric environment within an agreed timeframe.



Platform Architecture & Design

* Define and document the end-to-end Microsoft Fabric architecture including OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Pipelines, and Semantic Models.
* Establish workspace strategy, capacity planning, and governance frameworks tailored to the organisation's needs.
* Assess and lead migration of existing Azure data assets (Synapse, ADF, ADLS, Power BI Premium) to Microsoft Fabric.
* Produce architecture decision records (ADRs), solution design documents, and technical roadmaps.



Essential stack

* 5+ years in data architecture or senior data engineering, with recent hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience.
* Demonstrable experience delivering Microsoft Fabric solutions including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Fabric notebooks.
* Strong background in Azure data services: Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks.
* Proficient in SQL, PySpark, and Python for data engineering and transformation.
* Experience with medallion / lakehouse architecture and dimensional data modelling.
* Solid Power BI architecture knowledge including Direct Lake and semantic model design.
* Comfortable working in a DevOps / Agile environment with Git-based deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
* Proven ability to deliver independently with minimal supervision in a contract setting.
* Strong documentation skills and the ability to produce clear technical artefacts.

A leading Swedish medtech company is looking for an experienced consultant to join their digital platform team on a 9-12 month engagement. You'll work primarily on backend systems built in .NET and hosted on Azure, contributing to connected health platforms that underpin real-time patient data processing, clinical device integration, and field service management. There is also scope for frontend contributions in React / Next.js.

What you'll be working on

* Designing and developing backend services and APIs in .NET (C#)

Your Role

As a Senior Databricks Lakehouse Architect (Swedish-Speaking), you will lead the design and evolution of enterprise-grade data platforms built on the modern lakehouse paradigm. This role is tailored for engineers who go beyond standard pipeline development focusing on performance tuning, governance at scale, and advanced Databricks capabilities.

You will act as a technical authority, shaping best practices across data engineering, platform architecture, and machine learning integration within the Databricks ecosystem.



In This Role, You Will

Own end-to-end Lakehouse architecture
Design and implement scalable lakehouse solutions using Databricks, leveraging advanced features such as Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog, and Photon for high-performance workloads.

Build highly optimized Spark workloads
Develop and fine-tune complex distributed data pipelines using Apache Spark, with deep focus on query optimisation, partitioning strategies, and cost efficiency.

Implement advanced data governance and security
Drive enterprise-grade governance using Unity Catalog, data lineage, fine-grained access control, and compliance frameworks across Azure environments.

Engineer real-time and batch data solutions
Design streaming architectures (Structured Streaming, Auto Loader) alongside batch processing pipelines for large-scale, mission-critical data sets.

Lead ML and MLOps integration
Operational machine learning models using Databricks ML, MLflow, and CI/CD pipelines-ensuring reproducibility, monitoring, and life cycle management.

Your Profile

* Extensive hands-on experience in Data Engineering, with a strong focus on Databricks-based platforms
* Deep expertise in:

* Advanced Databricks Lakehouse architecture
* Delta Lake internals (transaction logs, optimisation, Z-ordering, vacuum strategies)
* Performance tuning in Spark (Catalyst optimiser, execution plans, memory management)

* Proven experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, and broader Azure ecosystem
* Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with production-grade pipeline development experience
* Hands-on experience with MLflow, feature stores, and MLOps practices
* Experience implementing data governance frameworks and working with regulated data environments
* Fluent Swedish (spoken and written) - essential for collaboration with local stakeholders
