Senior Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer - Fully Remote in SA
A fast-paced, technically complex End-User in the Telecomms industry is looking for a Senior Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer to join their lean, high-impact team. The environment is a hybrid of on-prem and cloud, and they're at a critical stage of evolving toward more standardised DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code.
You'll play a key role in shaping how infrastructure is run, automated, secured and scaled. This isn't a dev-heavy role - it's designed for someone from a strong Linux systems background who's made the transition into modern DevOps tooling and cloud platforms.
What you'll be working with:
* Linux: Deep system-level experience is essential.
* Cloud: Can come from an AWS, Azure or GCP background.
* Kubernetes experience is essential.
* Docker: Mixed usage across teams - expect non-standardised setups.
* Terraform: A big plus - you'll help drive this across the environment.
* DNS/IP Tables: Strong grasp of the basics; DNS knowledge especially important.
* Scripting: Bash required, Python nice-to-have.
* Monitoring/Alerting: No tool specified - just the know-how to keep production stable.
What they're looking for:
* Someone from a CI/OS or Infrastructure background or a Developer background that is comfortable with on-prem
* Ability to challenge, debate and influence infrastructure decisions.
* Comfort working in high-availability, client-facing, on-prem environments.
* Willingness to be part of after-hours patching rotations (approx. 10-12 days/month).
Why apply?
* Immediate need - September start required.
* You'll work alongside strong technical leadership and have influence from day one.
* Help define the infrastructure blueprint for a business-critical platform.
