Senior Data Engineer / Microsoft Fabric Consultant

Overview

We are actively seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Microsoft Fabric Consultant to lead the design and delivery of modern data and analytics solutions across a range of client engagements. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on solving complex data challenges, building scalable architectures, and helping organisations unlock the full value of Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure.

You will partner closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and fellow consultants to architect robust data platforms, develop high‑quality models and pipelines, and deliver actionable insights that drive decision‑making.

What You'll Do

* Lead client engagements end‑to‑end, from discovery and scoping through solution design, development, and delivery.
* Design and implement enterprise analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory Pipelines, and Dataflows Gen2.
* Develop scalable ETL/ELT workflows, integrating, transforming, and modelling data from various sources.
* Build high‑quality Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and reporting layers aligned to business requirements.
* Translate complex business goals into data‑driven technical solutions with clear architectures and delivery plans.
* Oversee data governance, documentation, lineage, and best practices across all projects.
* Mentor junior consultants, support capability development, and contribute to delivery excellence within the practice.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet performance, quality, and usability expectations.

What We're Looking For

* Deep expertise in Power BI: data modelling, DAX/M, RLS, performance optimisation, semantic model design, and best practices.
* Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and analytics workflows.
* Advanced SQL development skills, including complex querying, performance tuning, and working with large datasets.
* Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL/ELT, ingestion frameworks, and data integration patterns.
* Strong experience with Azure data services such as ADLS, Synapse, Data Factory, or related cloud‑based tools.
* Knowledge of data governance, quality frameworks, lineage, and security best practices.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and requirements‑gathering skills.
* A proactive, consultative mindset with the ability to lead solutions and influence architectural direction.

Nice to Have

* Experience with Python or PySpark for data engineering.
* Familiarity with DevOps pipelines or CI/CD for analytics solutions.
* Exposure to Fabric's broader ecosystem (Real‑Time Analytics, KQL DBs, Notebooks, etc.)
* Experience working in consulting, professional services, or client‑facing environments.
