About the opportunity

We're a manufacturing company with approximately $80M in annual revenue operating seven locations across the country. We recently went live on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

We'll be straightforward with you about why this role exists: the implementation went live without an internal system owner, without adequate end-user training, and with unresolved issues in manufacturing posting and inventory costing. We're stabilizing it now, and we've concluded that what we need isn't more outside consulting - it's someone who owns this system, understands our business, and stays.

This is a stabilization and ownership mandate, not a greenfield build. If you're energized by taking a live environment that isn't working and making it work - and by being the person who actually knows how it all fits together - this is a strong fit. If you're looking for a well documented, quiet system to maintain, it isn't.

You'd report directly to our Controller, who leads finance for the company, with real authority to set standards across our locations and to hold our implementation partner accountable.

What you'll own

The system. Configuration, setup, and the reasoning behind every decision. You'll be the definitive internal source of truth on how our BC environment works and why.

Stabilization. Diagnose and root-cause the issues we're currently seeing in production posting, inventory accuracy, order flow, and costing. Fix causes, not symptoms.

Monitoring. Build daily exception review so problems surface within 24 hours rather than at month-end.

The superuser network. Identify, train, and lead a designated superuser at each of our seven locations. They'll report to you functionally as the first line of support at each site.

Training and documentation. Build the end-user training and documentation that was never created, and keep it current.

The partner relationship. Manage our implementation and support partners, hold them to agreed response times, and keep scope honest.

Month-end support. Partner with Finance to make close clean and predictable, particularly on inventory valuation and WIP.

Continuous improvement. Once stable, identify and deliver the process improvements the system should have enabled from the start.

What we're looking for

Required

Substantial hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central in a manufacturing environment - production orders, BOMs, routings, work centers, capacity planning, and inventory costing

Experience supporting a live BC environment after go-live, not solely implementation work

Multi-site or multi-location experience

Strong grounding in finance and operational processes, including month-end close

Ability to move fluently between the shop floor and the executive team - explaining a posting error to an operator in the morning and a costing variance to finance leadership in the afternoon

Willingness to be on-site at our headquarters for the first 90 days

Strongly preferred

Metal fabrication, steel service center, or comparable discrete manufacturing experience

Dynamics NAV background. If you've been in this product for a decade, we consider that an asset, not an outdated skill set.

Familiarity with manufacturing ISV add-ons, shop floor data collection, or EDI

Experience with subcontracting operations - plating, galvanizing, heat treat, powder coat

Microsoft certification in Business Central (helpful, not required)
