Freelance Senior iOS Developer

We're looking for an experienced Senior iOS Developer to join a long-term product development programme for a Finnish organisation. This is an opportunity to work on a modern, customer-facing mobile application used at scale, collaborating with an experienced cross-functional engineering team.

The role is fully remote, although occasional attendance at workshops or planning sessions in Helsinki would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

* Design, develop and maintain high-quality native iOS applications.
* Build new features while improving the performance, reliability and scalability of existing products.
* Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Developers and QA Engineers.
* Write clean, maintainable and well-tested Swift code.
* Participate in architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
* Review code and contribute to engineering best practices.
* Support CI/CD pipelines and release processes for iOS applications.

Required Experience

* Strong commercial experience developing native iOS applications.
* Excellent knowledge of Swift.
* Experience with SwiftUI and UIKit.
* Solid understanding of Apple's iOS frameworks and platform guidelines.
* Experience consuming REST APIs and integrating backend services.
* Familiarity with asynchronous programming (Concurrency/GCD).
* Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
* Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and design patterns (MVVM, MVC or similar).
* Comfortable working within Agile development teams.

Nice to Have

* Experience publishing applications to the App Store.
* CI/CD experience using Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise or Azure DevOps.
* Experience with automated testing (XCTest/UI Testing).
* Knowledge of Combine.
* Experience with Firebase, analytics or crash reporting tools.
* Previous experience working with cloud-based backends (Azure, AWS or GCP).
* Finnish language skills.
