Data Engineer (New role for new project)

My client, a leading brand in e-commerce/ retail industry, is urgently looking for a Data Engineer to join in the new data team, where you'll work across diverse data sources, cloud platforms, and modern analytics tools to help shape data-driven decision making for a fast-growing retail business.



Job Responsibilities:



* Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and warehouse solutions to ensure timely and accurate access to business-critical data.
* Support integration of multiple data sources, including ERP, CRM, e-commerce platforms, and POS systems.
* Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using SQL and Python for automation and data transformation.
* Implement and maintain cloud-based data infrastructure on AWS or Azure (e.g., Redshift, RDS, S3, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, etc.).
* Leverage Databricks for data processing and analytics (experience in Databricks is a strong plus).
* Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve pipeline performance, data quality, and system reliability.
* Support dashboard development and visualization using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or AWS QuickSight.
* Contribute to maintaining high standards of data governance, security, and quality.
* Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to understand data needs and support analytical reporting.





Job Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
* 2+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or database management.
* Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and automation.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and modern data warehousing concepts.
* Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau.
* Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts; experience with Airbyte or similar integration tools is an advantage.
* Retail or luxury retail data workflow experience (ERP, CRM, E-commerce, POS) is highly preferred.
* Experience with Databricks is a plus.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with a desire to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Proficiency in English; Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage.
