The Opportunity

A leading technology and transformation consultancy is seeking an experienced AWS Data Platform Architect to join its growing Data & AI practice.

This is an opportunity to work on complex, business-critical programmes for large public sector and regulated organisations, helping clients unlock the value of their data through modern cloud-native platforms, advanced analytics, machine learning, and Generative AI.

The successful candidate will play a key role in defining architectural strategy, advising senior stakeholders, and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver secure, scalable, and future-proof data and AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Define and lead the architecture of enterprise-scale AWS data, analytics, and AI platforms.
*

Design cloud-native solutions spanning data ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, machine learning, and AI capabilities.
*

Develop scalable architectures supporting both batch and real-time data processing.
*

Lead the integration of machine learning, Generative AI, foundation models, and agentic AI solutions into enterprise environments.
*

Provide architectural leadership across multiple workstreams and programmes.
*

Engage with senior business and technical stakeholders to shape strategy and define roadmaps.
*

Ensure solutions meet governance, security, compliance, and responsible AI requirements.
*

Drive best practices across data architecture, platform engineering, MLOps, and cloud operations.
*

Identify risks, dependencies, and technical challenges while leading teams through successful delivery.
*

Mentor architects, engineers, and technical specialists, helping to develop capability across teams.

Skills & Experience Required

*

8+ years' experience delivering data, analytics, AI, or cloud platform architecture solutions.
*

Strong expertise across AWS cloud-native data and analytics services.
*

Proven experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms and modern cloud architectures.
*

Strong understanding of data engineering, data management, governance, security, and platform design.
*

Experience designing solutions involving machine learning, Generative AI, LLMs, and AI-enabled applications.
*

Expertise across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and processing through to analytics and AI consumption.
*

Experience leading technical delivery teams and managing multiple complex workstreams.
*

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
*

Strong understanding of MLOps, AIOps, cloud operations, and modern software delivery practices.

Desirable Experience

*

Experience working within public sector, government, healthcare, financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
*

Knowledge of modern data warehouse and lakehouse technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Synapse, or BigQuery.
*

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation.
*

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
*

Familiarity with SQL, Python, or Java.
*

Cloud architecture certifications and data or AI specialisations.
*

Experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
