Title: Systems Engineer
Type: Contract
Length: 3 months
Location: Remote
Responsibilities:
* Support the full transition from Windows to a new custom operating system, including installation, configuration, validation, and migration workflows.
* Build, configure, and maintain core system components such as networking, storage, system services, security policies, and hardware enablement (drivers, firmware/UEFI, bootloaders).
* Analyze existing Windows‑based workflows and determine how to re-implement, replace, or re‑architect them in the new OS environment.
* Troubleshoot system-level issues across hardware, drivers, boot processes, and application layers to ensure stability and performance.
* Collaborate with platform, security, and infrastructure teams to define standards, documentation, system images, and operational procedures for the new OS.
Qualifications:
* Prior experience in systems, platform, OS, or infrastructure engineering, working close to hardware, kernels, or system services.
* Strong experience with Linux, BSD, or similar operating environments, including boot processes, networking, filesystems, and system configuration.
* Proficiency in scripting/automation (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible) and comfort troubleshooting issues at the OS/hardware boundary.
* Solid understanding of drivers, firmware/UEFI, and system provisioning in enterprise or large‑scale environments.
* Experience with system migrations, OS deployments, or platform transformations (not necessarily Windows‑specific).
