Data Engineer/DW Dev/BI Developer

I'm supporting a Stockholm-based client seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong expertise in Snowflake and Microsoft Azure, combined with solid exposure to Power BI and analytics delivery. This is a 6-12 month contract with a hybrid working model.

The role sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics enablement. You will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and analytical data models, while ensuring that downstream Power BI solutions are performant, reliable, and business-ready.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and transformations using Snowflake and Azure-based services.
* Develop and manage analytical data models and data marts optimized for reporting and self-service analytics.
* Implement ELT workflows using modern tooling (e.g. dbt or equivalent).
* Collaborate closely with Power BI developers and business stakeholders to ensure data structures support reporting and KPI requirements.
* Support and optimize Power BI datasets through efficient modelling, performance tuning, and data quality practices.
* Integrate data from multiple source systems, both structured and semi-structured.
* Ensure data governance, security, and access control across the data platform.
* Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and warehouse performance.
* Document solutions and contribute to best practices for analytics and data engineering.

Required Technical Expertise

* Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake as a cloud data warehouse.
* Solid experience with Microsoft Azure, including services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Lake.
* Proficiency in SQL for data transformation, modeling, and performance optimization.
* Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
* Working knowledge of Power BI, including data modeling concepts and dataset optimization for analytics.
* Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, dimensional modelling, and analytics best practices.

Nice to Have

* Experience supporting or collaborating on enterprise Power BI solutions.
* Exposure to CI/CD and version control (e.g. Azure DevOps, Git).
* Experience in large, complex data environments or regulated industries.
