Technical Business Analyst - Contract (Outside IR35)

Location: Chippenham (3 days onsite / 2 remote)
Rate: £350-£400 per day
Duration: 3 months

We are seeking a technically strong Business Analyst to join a fast-paced organisation on an initial 3-month contract, supporting improvements across core business systems and operational processes.

This environment is dynamic, evolving, and relatively unstructured, so the successful candidate must be comfortable operating with ambiguity, taking ownership, and delivering outcomes in a fast-moving business.

The Role

As a Technical Business Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement, translating business needs into technical solutions, and supporting delivery across the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

* Collaborating with stakeholders across operations, logistics, sales, and IT to gather and analyse requirements
* Evaluating and optimising end-to-end workflows, particularly in production and order fulfilment
* Translating business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications
* Producing high-quality documentation including user stories, process maps, BRDs, and SRS documents
* Working with internal teams and third-party providers to enhance and integrate systems (ERP/MIS, scheduling, inventory, etc.)
* Supporting system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure solutions meet requirements
* Acting as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful delivery
* Navigating and delivering effectively in a fast-paced, low-structure environment where priorities may shift

Key Skills & Experience

* Proven experience as a Business Analyst (ideally 5-7+ years) within manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain environments
* Experience working in fast-paced organisations with minimal structure, able to operate independently and bring clarity to ambiguity
* Strong technical understanding of system architecture, APIs, integrations, and databases
* Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, validation, and analysis
* Experience with EDI, XML/JSON, or middleware/integration tools
* Strong process modelling and optimisation experience (Lean / Six Sigma beneficial)
* Experience producing detailed functional and technical documentation
* Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

* Background in print, publishing, or manufacturing environments
* Experience working with ERP/MIS systems, production planning, or warehouse/fulfilment solutions
