What steps should you take to become a Power Platform Specialist?

Education

Most (82%) Power Platform Specialists hold at least a Bachelor’s degree. However, only 34% consider a degree to be important to work with Microsoft Cloud, while 49% believe a degree to be an important factor when it comes to increasing earning potential.

Almost two-thirds (62%, down from 83% in our previous survey) of Power Platform Specialists are certified and 74% of those have undergone certification renewal to maintain their Microsoft Certified status. Meanwhile, 91% (up from 75%) believe that certifications help make you a more valuable professional.

Power Platform is set to play a major role in the future of Microsoft business applications, and this significance is reflected in the growing number of Power Platform-related certifications available.

The Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals certification is a good starting point if you’ve got your eyes set on a Power Platform Specialist career; there are no prerequisites, and you only need beginner-level experience with the platform to work toward earning it.

If you want to tackle more intermediate certifications, there are five on offer that focus on various products and job functions within the Power Platform stack. Those are: Power Platform App Maker Associate, Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate, Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Power Platform Developer Associate, and Power Automate RPA Developer Associate.

And for the advanced professional, the top-level certification on the Power Platform track is the Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert certification.
