Senior Accountant - 6 Month Contract-to-Hire - Chesapeake, VA

Position Overview

A client within a family owned truck dealership company known for its commitment to quality service and operational excellence is currently looking for a Senior Accountant looking to grow into a Controller level position. They are looking for someone who will have the ability to lead and manage core financial operations and support strategic decision making.

The position is fully on-site in Chesapeake, VA. It is contract to hire, with the intent of conversion after 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, General Ledger, and Revenue Recognition
* Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts; analyze and report variances
* Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
* Coordinate the preparation of regulatory and compliance reporting
* Research and resolve technical accounting issues
* Lead the month-end and year-end close processes
* Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting
* Manage local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings
* Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
* Supervise administrative staff across AP, AR, Sales Admin, and warranty claims
* Perform additional controller duties as needed

Qualifications

* Proven experience in general ledger management, month-end close, and financial reporting
* Strong analytical skills for month-over-month and year-end analysis
* Experience with ERP or database systems a plus (training available)
* Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
* CPA (a plus)
