Lead Data Engineer | Azure | Banking

Their modern cloud platform is in Azure, using Synapse, Data Lakehouse and Data Factory and as the Lead Data Engineer you will take responsibility of ensuring they have a stable and high-quality solution while following IT Security standards. You will also be working with automation, data modelling, data warehousing, building data pipelines, ETL, analysing data and working alongside other teams across the bank and business representatives to drive overall data success across the business.

In particular, they want you to be as self-sufficient as possible while also getting all of the support that you need (which means no micro-management but plenty of progression/learning opportunities).

Main responsibilities as the Lead Data Engineer:

* Developing and managing integrations with APIs
* Development, administration and coordination of data pipelines for Azure Data Factory and Databricks
* Data modelling: model and administer the group's central data warehouse in Azure Synapse
* Investigate and understand data needs with stakeholders from the business operations and identify data sources or lack of data sources


* A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role (BI Developer, etc.), with previous leadership experience
* Solid understanding of data engineering principals
* Knowledge in a programming language (Java, Python)
* Experience in database modelling and working with complex data
* Strong understanding of the Azure platform (Synapse, Data Factory, Power BI) and Databricks
