The Company:
One of my top clients has recently opened up a role for Client Developers in a team focussing solely on new development of games for use in the online gaming and casino market.
The company are based in both Stockholm and Gothenburg and number just under 50 people in total. You'll be in one of five Client teams, building games at a rapid pace and to high standards. There's a separate team handling maintenance, updating and refactoring, meaning that new development is left to the other teams, giving you a rare opportunity to focus on design and functionality of new games.
Due to the pace at which the market moves, they rarely go back to older games to refactor. This means, however, that code quality must be very high at the point of release. Testing is therefore very important. Developers tend to produce better-quality work when they've worked in this kind of environment, so it represents a fantastic learning opportunity as well as being a fun, collaborative, fast-paced position.
The Role:
You'll work with a range of modern Javascript frameworks to create top quality games as efficiently as possible, but commonly used frameworks include Three.js and Pixi.js. You'll use tools such as WebGL and Spine to create quality animations and graphics for the games, working closely with experienced creatives in the business to tweak details and create a fantastically aesthetic finished product.
The position is highly collaborative; on one side you'll work closely with designers, artists and sound technicians to create engaging, appealing games, while also working with the server and algorithm teams to effectively connect the client side to the backend and mathematical model determining a player's payout. It is one of the most central roles in the company in that you'll come into contact with pretty much everyone in the company at some stage!
