Senior Data Engineer - Up to £60K


Are you a talented data engineer looking for your next opportunity?


This client is a well-known British brand that has been in operation since 1844! With a long history, they have gathered a lot of data over the years. They are now in the process of modernising their Data and Analytics functions.


As they are currently going through the process of an exciting digital transformation, they are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help support the team migrate from their on-premise data warehouse to their Azure data platform.


They are looking for an ambitious, forward-thinking engineer who has the ability to manage a range of data sources and make sure the data platform for analytics is robust.



The Role


You will be:



  • Understanding the structure and meaning of data in multiple internal and external data sources.

  • Maintaining, standardising and revising engineering processes - to allow continuous improvement

  • Enforcing best practice across the team - source control, clean code, development standards, techniques & analysis.

  • Peer reviewing team members work as part of the release process.

  • Implementing data cleansing activities in ETL and help define business rules to support data quality.

  • Adapting ETL processes to accommodate changes in business requirements or source systems.

  • Keeping up to date with external trends in data and analytics platforms, recommending new tools and techniques which meet business requirements now and for the future.

  • Ensuring provision of a stable environment and continuity of service

  • Designing, developing, unit testing and delivering processes that extract data from sources, transform data to implement business logic and populate the BI data stores (ETL).

  • Ensuring that the data and analytics platform is GDPR compliant

  • Maintaining live, test and development environments in partnership with IT.


Experience



  • Strong Azure experience

  • Hands-on experience with Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse and Databricks

  • Passionate about data and new technologies

  • Strong SQL

  • ETL

  • Useful: python


Package



  • Base salary: up to £60,000 depending on experience

  • Bonus - Up to 20% non-contractual (dependent on company and personal performance)
