One of my clients, in the restaurant industry, analytics team are now looking for a passionate person within the Data Engineering area to join one of Europe's largest and fastest-growing clients in a progressive and innovative international team. As a data engineer you will work in a team that is end to end responsible for data services, where a data service spans from management dashboards, data warehousing, real time decisioning pipelines to frameworks for data quality measures. You will typically take the role of building and running data pipelines, data warehouse, data frameworks or different data presentation techniques.

Our mission is to provide data and insights to the whole company in order drive speed and quality in our releases, to provide our market units with intelligence for up-sell opportunities, and to optimise customer's networks to deliver the best performance. The challenges are numerous.

We are now investing heavily, both in analytics and other new technology, to be able to offer everything from smooth financial follow-up to advanced ML initiatives and predictions. In the role of data engineer, you are a key player in the new data architecture we are setting up. You will work actively in our existing SQL data warehouse in parallel as you develop our new target environment. The goal is a domain-based platform where access to data is obvious and where we create value for our customers every day!

You will be part of several agile teams where you assure that data is used in the best possible way, that the right technology is used and that the result creates insights and value. You are a driving force in the set-up of a future-proof handling of our information. You design and develop new data models and schemes with the goal of high availability, transparency, efficiency and quality. You will also work with data-intensive applications that organise, wash and make available data that can then be used for analysis or as input data to an algorithm.

To be successful in the role you must have:

  • Relevant education in systems science / IT, eg computer science or equivalent

  • Experience of developing and operating systems that can handle large amounts of data

  • Broad competence in various Azure BI / AI services / platforms such as Synapse, Databricks, Apache Spark, Azure Machine Learning

  • Broad competence in ETL / ELT, especially Azure Data Factory

  • Worked for a couple of years with some of the following languages: R, Python, Scala, Java

It is beneficial if you have experience also from working in/with:

  • Building data pipelines and data wrangling and enjoying optimising data systems and building them from the ground up

  • Large-scale distributed data processing using e.g. Hadoop, Spark and Kafka

  • Java programming
