Job Description

Role & Responsibilities

    • Serve as an Exchange Subject Matter Expert to both advise and guide the customer and the technical members of the team on how to successfully navigate the migration process from the current environment to the new environment. This includes migrating to newer versions of Microsoft Exchange on-premises (2013/2016/2019) and Office 365 (O365) or Microsoft 365 (M365) services.

    • Work with the Customer and Project Manager(s) on a regular basis to create / refine / revise the Project Plan as needed for the project.

    • Perform a detailed discovery of the infrastructure and policies as relating to the Exchange environment using a combination of the GUI, PowerShell, and interviewing the customer and stakeholders. This includes Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Exchange Control Panel, Office/Microsoft 365, Mobile Device Management (MDM) (Intune, MaaS360, AirWatch, Mobile Iron), Network, and Mail Flow through SMTP Edge / Gateways.

    • Work on-site with Federal customer(s) to identify their requirements, understand the current environment, and perform a gap analysis.

    • Design and develop solutions which includes developing customer deliverable documentation such as Architecture, Build and Configuration, Network Diagram, or other supporting documentation as required.

    • Familiar with Enterprise Change Control Process: Change Control Requests (CCR), Change Control Review Board (CCRB), Implementation and backout plan documentation.

    • Ability to articulate buildout, configuration, and implementation of the proposed solution in preparation for the Testing, Pilot, Early Adopter, and Velocity migrations.

    • Test and validate the proposed solution will work as expected through a rigorous User Acceptance Test (UAT) plan. Any deficiencies need to be documented according, added to an Issues and Risks Tracking Log, and worked through accordingly.

    • Familiar with the planning, deployment, and supporting of the various Microsoft MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) solutions.

    • Ability to provide high-level training / knowledge transfer to the customer at a Tier I/ II / III Support and or Operations and Maintenance staff in addition to producing well written, technically detailed documents that are tailored specifically to the customer's environment, objectives, and requirements.

    • Perform the Pilot / Early Adopter migration and support the participants to ensure a successful transition. This includes providing post-migration configuration of the migrated accounts, developing migration reporting on the success / failure of that migration to the customer the following morning.

    • Recommend a migration approach / tactic. On larger more complex projects where a Project Scheduler is required, the Sr. O365 / M365 & Exchange Engineer will work with a Project Scheduler to help develop a detailed Migration Schedule as part of the customer deliverable.

    • Help support the migration effort by developing customized mailbox migration scripts that automate and or streamline repetitive tasks such as building Migration Batches, Checking the status of Migration Batches, Migrating customers mailboxes, Applying Post-Migration Configuration settings as needed, Auditing, Post-Migration Reporting, etc.

    • Directly interface with the client on a regular basis and provide Project Status updates and Best Practice recommendations based upon their objectives and business or technical needs.

    • Support the Project Manager with developing project schedules, presentations, and reporting as necessary. This includes leading and presenting to the customers business and technical representatives to provide status updates, explain project issues and risks, provide training, or provide recommendations and guidance.

    • Assist with helping the Planet Business Development Team develop proposal content, review proposals, provide pre-sales Engineering support as needed.

    • Provide mentoring to junior or technically less experienced staff when and where appropriate

Skills & Qualifications

    • Exchange: Must have real-world, hands on experience delivering messaging and collaboration solutions utilizing Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 within large complex environments.

    • Office 365: SME for Azure Active Directory, Azure active Directory Federation Service (ADFS), Exchange Online, Exchange Online Protection (EOP), Skype for Business / Teams, and other O365 workloads

    • Active Directory: Must have real-world experience helping to managing and maintaining AD DS, GPO's etc.

    • Azure: Although not required, Azure experience is highly desired and will likely become a future requirement as this is where the industry is clearly heading

    • Certifications: Should already possess a current Microsoft Certification or be able to show proof of working towards obtaining one soon

    • Communications: Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to communicate efficiently and effectively

    • Education: Bachelors Degree

    • Experience: 5-7 years

    • Citizenship Requirement: US Citizen

    • Clearance Required: Must be able to pass background check

    • Location: Washington, DC and surrounding major metropolitan area
