As a Junior Cloud Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining a high-performance cloud environment and the CI/CD pipelines and when required assisting on project delivery. The Cloud operations engineering team is responsible for ensuring customers Azure Cloud environments are available, secure, and reliable. The team is also responsible for servicing customer requests, incidents management, and driving continuous improvement of the core platform. This position will remain largely support-focused however will also include training and skill development in design/architecture of technical solutions.

Responsibilities for the Cloud Engineer (Azure, IaaS, PaaS, ARM, Automation):

  • Monitor, analyse and predict trends for system performance, capacity, efficiency, and reliability

  • Researching and implementing new technologies within the DevOps space to improve the process of code deployment to our environments, seeking to eliminate inefficiency using relevant technology solutions

  • Assist customers and other engineers on problems which occur

  • Participate in meetings and project definition workshops for customer engagements

  • On projects collaborate closely with the Architects and Development team

Requirements for the Cloud Consultant (Azure, IaaS, PaaS, ARM, Automation):

  • Experience using Microsoft Azure products & technologies, including (but not limited to):

    • Azure DevOps - implementing release processes for development teams

    • AppInsights and Azure Monitor - knowledge of troubleshooting applications (PaaS, SaaS, etc) using AppInsights and Log Analytics. Familiarity with writing queries using Kusto query to determine root cause of outages/problems

    • Azure Functions/PaaS / SaaS - familiarity (or experience with) building functions/apps with native Azure technologies. (Note: you don't need to be a developer, just understand how Azure works, how the technology fits together, and how to troubleshoot these apps when they break)

    • Azure Container (including Kubernetes service) - experience in using or building container services to host and manage new or legacy systems

  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding on Azure IaaS Security

    • Security Center and Secure Score, Ddos attack mitigation, Azure Front Door / Web Application Firewall, Azure Key Vault, Network Security Groups, Azure AD Identity Protection and Privileged Identity Management

  • Solid understanding of core network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS).


  • Azure SQL, DB, SQL DataWarehouse

  • Azure App Services, App Service Environments (ASE)

  • Exposure to 3rd party tools such as RiverMeadow, Turbonomics, AppDynamics and container technologies
