Title: Chief Technology Officer

Jefferson Frank is currently conducting an executive search and is seeking a Chief Technology Officer for our direct client in the IT industry. This is a Direct Hire position reporting directly to the CEO, with dotted line accountabilities to both the COO and Co-Founder. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience, at least 2 - 5 years of Software Engineering Management experience and be seasoned in leading technical teams. Additionally, candidates must have a demonstrated history of success designing, architecting, and delivering commercial software platforms, preferably for the IT industry. The successful candidate will be able to explain why they can motivate a team, ensure products meet design criteria, deliver a consistent experience for users, provide critical architectural direction when necessary, and maintain compliance with critical quality standards.



As The Chief Technology Officer You Will



  • Together with the CEO, you will build and shape the company's engineering team as they continue to expand and grow

  • Lead a team of data scientists, engineers, and product managers

  • Define, articulate, and execute engineering strategy from launch to scale

  • Implement best practice coding methodologies and tools

  • Constantly evaluate technological advancements and innovative solutions to drive continuous product improvement

  • Gain and share insights with other leadership team members to continue improving the product and the business

  • Build the systems required for testing, trials, commercial launch, and beyond

  • Define technical requirements and systems architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost, and impact

  • Ensure all processes, services, and software comply with security and privacy regulations (GDPR, FSA, HIPAA) and other applicable laws.

  • Continuously rebalance product / service features which maximize value and minimize effort to focus on the highest-returning initiatives

  • Effectively align resources to achieve key business priorities, including appropriate scope, and high quality / timely product releases

  • Know the latest modern technologies and selectively choose technologies to ensure our competitive advantage

  • Define and implement a consistent and repeatable process for quality assurance across all areas of organization and product build

  • Hire and retain a multidisciplinary, elite engineering team

  • Cultivate a high-performing, engineering-empowered culture

  • Evangelize technical vision and strategy both internally and externally

  • Be a strategic thought partner to the CEO, ensuring the right balance between prioritizing scaling the team and cost as well as between growing locally versus remotely


Desired Expertise & Experience



  • 10+ years architecting and building products from pre-launch through maturity

  • Ability to stand up an organization and hire engineering talent

  • Released (and maintained) at least 2 products to the market

  • Startup experience in key engineering leadership positions at multiple high-growth technology companies

  • An entrepreneurial spirit that is flexible, experimental, and resourceful

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Technology stack that includes: Python, Node.js, gRPC, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, AWS, Kafka, Redis, etc.

  • Experience with backend/platform engineering, scaling performance engineering, security

  • Experience in languages/frameworks like java, python, go, javascript

  • Cloud-native development and devops/CI/CD

  • Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM, or Extreme Programming methodologies
