Lead Developer/Software Manager

My client based in Newcastle City Centre are currently looking to recruit an experienced Lead Software Developer. The ideal candidate is someone who has strong hands on technical knowledge as well as strong experience with management. The idea is that you will come into the business as a Lead Developer and have a quick (6-9 month) progression into a head of development position.
The role is full stack with either a background in Java or Microsoft .NET technologies. You'll be working on cutting edge projects, primarily enterprise in scale and focused around emerging markets such as Big Data, Cloud and AI. You will work with the full Software Development Life cycle, with both internal and external teams whilst acting as a technical escalation point for project issues. You'll also be given a voice, encouraged to spend time on research and expected to implement new technologies if you feel they'd be more suitable.
You will be expected to implement a range of Agile methodologies as well as modern software development processes including Test Driven Development (TDD). Agile experience is specifically important so any previous experience acting as a Scrum Master would be additionally beneficial.
In terms of the specific candidate requirements, rather than simply regurgitating the job description, I wanted to highlight a few key areas below:
- Tech Stack - a background in either Java (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Java 8) or Microsoft (ASP.NET MVC, C#, .NET Core) is preferred, but any experience with wider languages/frameworks such as Python and Scala is also beneficial. They are a 'true tech company' and like to hire people who aren't just confined/limited to a single technology area.
- Stakeholder Management - due to the nature of the organisation (e.g. Consultancy), there will be occasions where you'll be expected to work directly with end customers so strong communication skills are an absolute necessity.
