What influenced your decision to join NFI?

I wanted to move away from where I lived and had decided I would like to try a job at a recruitment company. When I found out about Nigel Frank, I was instantly interested.

How has your career progressed at NFI?

I am still a Trainee Recruitment Consultant, but my review is coming up where I should hopefully become a Recruitment Consultant. After that, who knows? There is so much room for development at Nigel Frank and so much support to get you there.

What do you enjoy most about working at NFI?

I really enjoy getting to know all of my candidates. I also really like the global aspect of the company, I speak 5 languages and so it’s exciting to have the opportunity to utilise them all on a daily basis.

What did you struggle with when you first joined NFI?

I think when I first joined NFI; the product knowledge was a challenge. It is important to know the technology you are talking about, and while that isn’t an issue for me having worked with IBM and HP, the difficulty was not confusing the software.

What have your biggest high points or successes been?

My biggest high point was when I negotiated my first deal at a rate of 30%; this was a massive achievement for me. This also became a placement that I introduced to our Global Business Development Team who are now in discussions for global rollout.

How would you describe the company culture and work environment at Nigel Frank?

It is a fun, young, fresh atmosphere at Nigel Frank. Whilst you have to work really hard, it is very rewarding and there is plenty of opportunity to unwind and socialise.

What advice would you give someone looking to join Nigel Frank?

I would tell anyone interested in joining Nigel Frank, that if you put the effort in then the training and support is there to help you achieve your goals.

What influenced your decision to join NFI?

There were only three members in the U.S. office at the time so it was a tricky decision to join what was essentially a start-up. What really caught my attention was our Director’s vision for the company’s growth, NFI’s proven track-record of success in Europe, and the realistic opportunity to earn great money and climb the ranks internally.

How has your career progressed at NFI?

When I started, my sole job was to enter new clients and contacts into our CRM system. Since then I’ve progressed from Trainee Consultant to Consultant, Senior Consultant, Team Lead, Manager and now Senior Manager.

What do you enjoy most about working at NFI?

Being a mentor to new starters. I've been in their shoes and love sharing what I've learned and watching it lead to success.

What did you struggle with when you first joined NFI?

NFI only hires candidates with a track-record of success. As a strong student and a successful Division I soccer player, it was a drastic change to come into a competitive environment where I was no longer one of the best. While it was a difficult adjustment, I quickly learned that NFI was a place where if you put in the time and hard work hard, you are eager to learn, and you have an optimistic attitude, there is more than enough support around you to ensure you're successful.

What have your biggest high points or successes been?

There is not a company out there that will take care of you more if you are bringing in results. I’ve received amazing paychecks, numerous promotions, countless meals at the top restaurants in NYC, three all-expense-paid trips to Europe, the opportunity to shadow and learn from the Managers, Directors, and CEO in Newcastle, and much, much more. In terms of achievements, I’m most proud of how the U.S Contracts Division has grown into one of the most successful and profitable teams in the company.

How would you describe the company culture and work environment at Nigel Frank?

Challenging, Competitive, Fun, Energetic, Productive, Motivating, Intense, and Rewarding.

What advice would you give someone looking to join Nigel Frank?

This isn’t a job, it’s an opportunity. If you get the opportunity, take advantage of it.

Patrick Navarro

Patrick Navarro

Senior Vice President

Joined Nigel Frank on: February 2011

What was your background before joining NFI?

Believe it or not, before I joined NFI I was a beer salesman. And I focused on selling to bars in Brooklyn, NY. It was your typical sales job with nothing special about it. I was over worked and underappreciated with little room to grow. What makes NFI so unique is the fact that none of those problems exist here. If you work hard and do deals, you will be promoted and rewarded for your efforts.

What influenced your decision to join NFI?

What really sold me was the career progression and the focus on employees. I won’t lie, I was sceptical when I first heard how much you can make and how quickly successful people can become leaders in this business. I am now a Manager and enjoying everything about it.

How has your career progressed at NFI?

Within two months of starting at NFI, I progressed to a Recruitment Consultant. Once I became a consultant, I really started to do deals. Since then, I have done over 150 deals in almost 3 years and have been promoted three more times. I am now a Manager, deeply involved in the business and looking forward to helping the business grow.

What do you enjoy most about working at NFI?

There is nothing that I enjoy more than the people and culture here at Nigel Frank International. We are a very close group and everyone goes out together. Every single day you feel as if you are working toward goals that you will be greatly rewarded for. We have incentive trips and lunch clubs in place so that consultants are constantly pushing themselves to do deals. Since joining NFI, I have had some of the best meals of my life at the nicest restaurants in NYC and have enjoyed some of the best nights out I’ve ever experienced. On top of all that, I have been to London twice on all-expenses paid, luxury trips. I have also hit individual targets to go to Vegas and Madrid where I got to fulfil a dream of mine and go to a Real Madrid Soccer match. A weekend trip to Miami is the current incentive trip I am working towards and I am very excited about. There are just so many perks to working at this company.

What did you struggle with when you first joined NFI?

When I first joined I felt very overwhelmed with the technical aspect of the products that we recruit for. I soon learned, with the help of my mentor Rob Morgenroth, that this was a small hurdle to overcome. The training that I received here at Nigel Frank International helped me learn not only the Dynamics product but also the market.

What have your biggest high points or successes been?

There are just too many to list. I’ve been promoted four times, travelled to Europe, meet and work with great people, attended many international professional conferences, and I am making more money that I thought I ever would.

How would you describe the company culture and work environment at Nigel Frank?

Fast-paced, energetic and fun. The office is never quiet because everyone is always on the phone trying to close deals. Everyone is constantly striving to achieve their goals and working together to do that.

What advice would you give someone looking to join Nigel Frank?

If you are ready to work hard and enjoy what you do, then this is the company and position for you. There are so many upsides to working here; the culture, the incentives, our close-knit team, clear paths to promotion and management. I can go on and on… If you are excited by an opportunity with limitless potential, come in with a positive attitude and go for it.

What influenced your decision to join NFI?

The challenge of joining a start-up company (there were only 9 employees when I started) and helping it grow.

How has your career progressed at NFI?

As I joined the company in the early days, my first role was quite a hard one. I had to to build up the Scandinavian market from scratch; there was no candidate or contact database to work from at the time.

Since then I have went from Consultant - Sr. Consultant - Team Leader, Nordics - Principal Consultant, US Contracts and now I am the Team Leader of the US ERP Contracts Team.

What do you enjoy most about working at NFI?

Being rewarded for your achievements. As long as you seize the opportunity and work hard to achieve your targets, there are no limits to how successful you can become.

What did you struggle with when you first joined NFI?

I struggled with the Sales Process, I did not realise that to be successful you had to follow certain processes and make sure you work your candidates just as much as your jobs. Initially, I had no problem with the delivery side, but I really struggled with the candidates. Luckily, I had some great managers that showed me the value of working together with your candidates to create multiple opportunities for them and always ensure they were happy with the way they were being handled; everyone is different.

What have your biggest high points or successes been?

Moving to New York was a dream come true, hitting 10 Deals in a month, being The Annual Global Top Biller and most recently helping to create a great US Contracts Team.

How would you describe the company culture and work environment at Nigel Frank?

Fun, successful, challenging and rewarding! Being one of the first to join NFI, I have see it grow from a small firm in Newcastle to this huge international company. During my career, I have encountered multiple challenges, but thanks to the great support network I have overcome them all and had a lot of fun in the process!

What advice would you give someone looking to join Nigel Frank?

You need to make sure that you want a career in sales and are able to adapt to situations that can change in a split second. We are working with people; some of these people are on the brink of making huge decisions, whether they are looking for a new job or trusting you to find their next employee, they can change their mind without warning. If you are not committed to providing the best service to your candidates and clients, they will go elsewhere. You need to stay on top of your market at all times and always go that extra mile to accommodate your candidates and clients alike.

What influenced your decision to join NFI?
