&lt;p&gt;On Monday 29th October, one of the worst hurricanes ever to hit North East America, struck. Causing chaos, Hurricane Sandy tore her way through New York, New Jersey and the North East coast as well as Canada and the Caribbean.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Killing over 100 people and causing an estimated $65.6 billion worth of damage, Hurricane Sandy flooded the subway lines, tunnels and streets and cut of power across the area.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As well as our office in New York being shut down, many staff within the office were personally affected by the disaster, as well as many of our clients and candidates. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In the days after the event we at Nigel Frank arranged a charity ‘dress down’ day, across our 5 Global headquarters, in aid of the Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Fund. With all staff participating we raised $2,500 dollars towards the fund.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We also partnered with the &lt;a href="http://www.salesforcefoundation.org/home"&gt;Salesforce.com Foundation&lt;/a&gt;, who matched our collection, adding to a total of $5,000 towards helping those affected by the disaster.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Our thoughts and support remain with those still re-building their lives and businesses in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Subaru Canada are cutting all the corners when it comes to communicating with their dealer networds, by implementing Microsoft Lync.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In the past the company, as so many others do, would communicate via phone and email with their 88 dealers accross the country. However, this came with it's own problems resulting in lost productivity through missed calls and unread emails and general breakdowns in communication.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;After exhausting their phone system and being unable to source a suitable alternative, Subaru Canada turned to Microsoft Lync.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Implementing the Lync system has instantly enhanced the communications process, it serves as a competent phone system and mitigates lost productivity. A light system means that if an employee is green they are there and ready for you to call, if not it is yellow.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It has also dramatically reduced travel costs incurred by the company as it is no longer necessary to travel nationwide to meet with each of the 88 dealers working for Subaru.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Lync system means that sales and ad hoc meetings and training sessions, can all be carried out electronically.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Ted Lalka, Vice-President of Planning and Marketing for Subaru Canada was quoted as saying it is hard to monetise the "return on invement on what Lync has brought to the company" but effectively when information is being communicated quicker it is always a positive return. Even a few hours saved a week accross 500 users would demonstrate a vast improvement in efficiency. That combined with a removed need to renew the phone system anually and reduced travel costs, the return in efficiency and value is extensive.&lt;/p&gt;

The event saw 16,000 Microsoft Partners from all over the globe join together to share news and information, making it the biggest gathering of Microsoft Partners yet.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Nigel Frank International attended as Silver Sponsors, giving us a great opportunity to meet with clients from all over the world. The staff that attended the event on the Nigel Frank booth were inundated throughout the week long conference.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;WPC is the definitive event for all Microsoft Technologies and there were a number of great presentations and exciting announcements made, including the announcement of Windows 8, the aquisition of Perspective Pixel as well as changes to The Microsoft Partner Network Program.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Microsoft Gold Partner Avanade, have followed in the footsteps of Microsoft Dynamics and have become official sponsors of the Lotus F1 Team.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This follows Microsoft Dynamics sponsorship of the Formula One team unveiled in March of this year. The partnership sees a 3 year deal with Lotus F1 with branding to appear on the E20 car, alongside Microsoft Dynamics, from the Monaco Grand Prix onwards with Avanade professionals at the team's base to support in the Dynamics implementation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The partnership is to be showcased as a 'best in class' case study, working closely with the team and it's partners, particularly in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Patrick Louis, CEO Lotus F1 Team said the partnership "stems naturally" from their recent partnership with MS Dynamics and described Avanade as being "a key partner in driving efficiencies and business processes through Lotus F1 Team".&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;CEO for Avanade, Adam Warby, echoed Louis' words stating that "performance matter both on and off the track" for the Lotus F1 Team. He said Avanade is bringing "unmatched expertise and experience in the Microsoft platform to help them outpace competition and drive growth".&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The move will see a Nook application on the windows 8 platform including Microsoft’s tablet device due later this year and is now likely to take a prime location on the new Windows 8 tile screen.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Nook currently makes up for about 25% of the e-reader market and with e-books estimated to already account for almost 20% of the market this could be a very shrewd move with huge potential and new areas to explore in the future. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It is now more important than ever for businesses to look past the standard foundations of enterprise into a cloud based, social format. It is with this in mind that Microsoft have paired up with the leading provider of collaborative business commerce solutions.&lt;/p&gt;

The Microsoft Dynamics logo is to feature prominently on both the Lotus F1 Team cars and the drivers' overalls.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This is an unusually high profile move for Microsoft Dynamics and could demonstrate that Microsoft are driving towards some agressive growth targets for their business solutions division, and are keen to raise awareness of the Dynamics products as part of their growth strategy.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Hal Howard of Microsoft Dynamics said Microsoft were "revved up about working with the Lotus F1 team", who are also a Microsoft Dynamics AX customer and provide Microsoft with the agile and cutting edge profile they want for their Dynamics products.&lt;/p&gt;
